Rafael Moneo reorganised Atocha Railway Station in Madrid in 1985. Whilst that project is much bigger in scope than yours (I think), the transformation of the main hall into a garden is really lovely.

Obviously, I have little idea at this point which directions your designs are headed, but I have been thinking about projects I'd be using to inform my thinking on such a project. Some precedents are obvious, like railways stations, but some less so.
